Ann Arbor
Gilda Johnson, owner of Lake Forest GC, now finds herself the host of the only professional womens' golf tournament in Michigan, the Bank of Ann Arbor FUTURES Golf Classic. With the LPGA Oldsmobile classic history and the FUTURES tour event in Grand Rapids gone, Ann Arbor has become the center of Womens' golf in Michigan. The tournament will be held June 20-22.

David Joy and his book "Scrapbook of Old Tom Morris" David Joy wrote the Scrapbook of Old Tom Morris, a best seller for Clocktower Press. David is a St. Andrews, Scotland resident and actor. He performs his one-man act on the life of Old Tom Morris, one of the most famous golf personalities in all of Scotland, all over England. In our interview, David gets into character to describe his work. It is a magical show.

Dennis Walters and his book
"In My Dreams I Walk With You" At age 24, Dennis Walters was dreaming of playing one day on the PGA Tour. After all, he had played well enough in Open events and toured South Africa playing against the likes of Gary Player and Nick Price. Then one day, a tragic golf cart accident ended that dream and left him paralyzed from the waist down, never again to walk on his own two legs. Now, Walters takes The Dennis Walters Show to PGA Tour, Senior PGA, LPGA, Nike Tour, and USGA events as well as junior golf events, charity tournaments, club functions, and corporate outings. In our interview we also get a chance to see his dog, Benji Hogan do his thing. This is some dog. It is a terrific show and one that will inspire you.

Ron Garland and his book with Brian Hewitt "Golf Nuts: You've Got To Be Committed"

Thad Gutowski talks with Ron Garland who founded the Golf Nuts Society in 1986. Golf Nuts - You've Got To Be Committed is an in-depth recounting of the founding of the Society and an intimate look into the mind of the man (Garland) who started "the most unique golf association in the world." All golfers are at least a little nuts about the game, and because of that, every golfer will be able to relate to the zany antics of the members of the Golf Nuts Society. These are otherwise perfectly normal human beings and you will identify with them because you've done many of the same things as these self-professed "Golf Nuts."

Sidney L. Matthew and his book
"The Life and Times of Bobby Jones" Sidney L. Matthew talks about the book Robert T. Jones IV calls "...the best book ever written about my grandfather." Matthew includes hundreds of vintage photographs to illustrate the major chapters in Jones' life: his childhood, his golfing career culminating in the Grand Slam, the making of Hollywood films, designing and producing golf clubs for Spalding, the writing of books and articles, designing and building Augusta National, participation in World War II, establishing the Masters, and his unmatched strength and character in fighting a debilitating spinal disease that crippled him in later life.

We went to a dinner party last week and had the chance to chat with Monica Bebow. Obviously, she continues to worry about John, but is encouraged by the way the war is going.

Norm Sinclair
Congrats to Norm Sinclair and a team of Detroit News writers for being a finalist in the latest round of Pulitzers. Norman, Ronald Hansen and Melvin Claxton did a story in the Detroit News that revealed dangerous defects and spurred changes in a criminal justice system that allowed lawbreakers to get away with everything from petty theft to murder.

MICHIGAN GOLF LIVE! ENTERING FOURTH SEASON
Michigan Golf Live!, the live call-in golf radio show, kicked off its fourth season on April 5. The two-hour live show is carried on 11 stations around the state and has added an affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio
