MGN ON THE ROAD

Ann Arbor-

John Bebow greeted many of his fans this past week and he embedded back into the Ypsilanti-Ann Arbor community. The shoulder he separated in a rollover accident in Iraq is still tender. As a welcome home gift, we gave him the new "Knife" golf club as a rehab tool. John was well tanned, slimmed down and just happy to be back alive.

Traverse City

Elmbrook GC- "The Haig" will be dropping in on "The Haig" golf tournament at Elmbrook GC. Walter Hagen* will be the banquet speaker at "The Haig" golf tournament in Traverse City on June 20. Walter is currently in LA doing some television work, but is looking forward to coming back to Michigan and the Traverse City, Interlochen, Long Lake and Cadillac areas where he has so many friends and memories. Grand Traverse Resort

Mr. GTR PR, Mike DeAgostino, was in fine form when we dropped by his office. The Grand Traverse Resort and Spa has undergone a very smooth transition with the new ownership, the official transfer day was March 31. All the courses are now open and they are looking forward to what could very well be another chapter in their incredible history.

Park Place Hotel

Bill Knopp, Director of Sales for the hotel, is working with local vineyards to put together a "Chip and Sip" program for golfers. The idea being, you grab some room nights at the hotel and they will set you up with some golf and vineyard package.

The Leelanau Club at Bahle Farms

We chatted with Matt Morrison, Head Golf Professional at the course, and he is looking forward to a great year. They do a lot of packaging with the Park Place Hotel.

The Crown

The building that has taken place on The Crown Golf Course is staggering. It appears that they are building quite a community of golfers there.

The Michigan Golfer had the opportunity to visit with Mike David, the Executive Director of the Indiana Golf Association-Indiana Section PGA. The Indiana Golf Hall of Fame is located in a separate wing of the offices of the Indiana Golf Association and the Indiana Section PGA. It is an excellent facility, one that Michigan can aspire to become. Join us as Mike David takes a look at the great players of Indiana; including Pete and Alice Dye, Bill Kratzert and Fuzzy Zoeller.

"GOLF'S GREATEST EIGHTEEN"-EDITED BY DAVID MACINTOSH WITH JOEY KANEY

David Mackintosh http://services.golfweb.com/library/mackintosh/mackintoshbio.html and Joey Kaney have brought together an interesting idea and some of golf's greatest writers, to produce a terrific book; "Golf's Greatest Eighteen" The premise for the book, was to create a computer enhanced mathematical model to compare the golfing greats of years past with the golfing greats of the modern era. To carry out this idea, they created a "New Money" in which to rank the players.

I thought they carried the idea off very well. Once you understand the formula, you can jump in and be entertained with the craftsmanship of its authors; John Garrity, Dave Hackenburg, Ben Wright, James Dodson, Al Barkow, John Hopkins, Dr. Stephen Lowe, Ron Green, Sidney Matthew, John Huggan, Dan Reardon, Mike Purkey, Phil Tresidder, Jaime Diaz, Kaye Kessler, Marino Parascenzo, Furman Bisher and Tom Auclair.

Who were "Golf's Greatest Eighteen"? I can tell you that T. C, Chen did not make it, but for those who did, buy the book.
