MGN ON THE ROAD
Bellaire
The Chief and Hawk's Eye- The phone's were ringing with cash flow, when we stopped by to do a segment of Michigan Golf Radio with Dave Hill, PGA Professional at The Chief and Dave Rowe, of Vacation Properties Network. Bookings are up for the year and the move they made this year on partnering with Tom Izzo seems to be paying off in birdies. Izzo, will be a spokesperson for the highly acclaimed courses and the developments that surround them. The first order of business will be his participation in Coach Tom Izzo's Celebrity Pro Charity Challenge, on June 1 and 2. Dave Rowe indicated that Izzo's Final Four appearance really gave the event an additional boost. You can keep those phones ringing at The Chief by calling 866-244.3318 to sign up.

Shanty Creek Resort- Hot off a month when Phil Jones, Vice President of Lodging & Sales at Shanty Creek Resort & Club, was awarded "Hotelier of the Year", business seems to be picking up at Michigan's three resort resort. Lindsey Southwell, part of the marketing team and the talent behind the Shanty Creek Resort website, was happy about the early spring, but was a tad bummed because of the news of the return of Winter last weekend.

Boyne Falls
The commercials that herald the new Avalanche Bay have started showing downstate, just as the Boyne folks ready for their Memorial weekend opening. You can get a glimpse of the activity with Boyne's Julie Ard at this month's Michigan Travel Television's selection

Gaylord-The Natural
Steve Helmer, PGA professional at The Natural, will be offering free clinics to Junior and Ladies in June. In addition, they are having some May Madness at the course with unlimited golf, cart and lunch for $30 from May 1 to the 13th. Golf Packages

GARY WIREN TO TEACH AT THE KINGSLEY CLUB
The Kingsley Club in Northern Michigan will be home for three weeks this summer for one of golf's leading teachers, Dr. Gary Wiren, and the club and the territory are familiar ground to the man who has traveled the world teaching the game.

The Kingsley Club, located in a heavily wooded, rolling area just south of Traverse City, provided a strong draw for Wiren (http://www.garywiren.com)who lives in North Palm Beach, Fla., and teaches at Trump International Golf Club. Recently featured on The Golf Channel, Wiren has played and written about all of the world's top courses. He has authored 11 books, more than 200 magazine articles, has four teaching videos on the market and is a selector for the World's Top 100 courses. Wiren has conducted teaching summits in Japan, France, Italy, Switzerland, Canada and Australia. There is no more decorated teacher in golf.

"I'm looking forward to spending three weeks there playing this wonderful traditional course and promoting golf. I like the spirit of the club and I'll be there to talk history, give lessons, play with the members and their guests and play in the Hickory Open and the Father-Son tournament," Wiren said.

For more information about The Kingsley Club, call 231-263-3000 or visit http://www.kingsleyclub.com
