SERVER SNAFU
Last week, we got caught between the digital rock and the virtual hard
place. We were in the process of refreshing our online web and video pages
to coordinate them with the delivery of our latest Michigan Golfer TELEZINE
when we had a server go down. All is fine now. We invite you to see the
Indiana Golf Hall of Fame Show that was scheduled for Friday, but did not
get up until Tuesday.

MGN ON THE ROAD
Auburn Hills
Gordon Marmion, Director of Golf for Fieldstone GC, indicated that they
experienced an increase of rounds last year. In addition, according to the
Detroit News, the course rose in the ranks of must play courses in Oakland
County. This Arthur Hills gem will be joined by a first rate clubhouse next
year. The City of Auburn Hills will break ground this fall for this much
needed addition.
Bloomfield Hills
Phyllis Barone, from Golfer's Guide is excited about the merger of Golfer's
Guide with Golf US. The new company will be able to advertise golf
courses, provide them with the next generation website and provide their
golf auction service as a cash flow alternative.

CAN HEBERT TIE MICHIGAN OPEN TITLE RECORD?
Perhaps the biggest question during this year’s Detroit Newspapers Michigan
Open will be whether last year’s winner, Scott Hebert, can tie the record
for Michigan Open titles set by Al Watrous.
Watrous, a member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, won the championship
six times between 1926 and 1949. Hebert plans to return to defend his
five-time title and attempt to tie the record at the $110,000 event to be
played June 23-26 on The Bear at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, near
Traverse City.
The $110,000 Detroit Newspapers Michigan Open Championship is preceded by a
two-day Pro-Am, June 20-21. Four amateurs will be grouped with a PGA
Professional to play one round on The Bear, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and
one round on the resort's Gary Player signature course, The Wolverine. For
more information about the Pro-Am, call 313-222-5112 or visit
http://www.michigangolftour.com.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Golf is a game that needlessly prolongs the lives of some of our most
useless citizens."'
"If you watch a game, it's fun. If you play it, it's recreation. If you
work at it, it's golf."
