ARCADIA BLUFFS AND BAY HARBOR LAND HOLES ON LEXUS PERFECT 18
It looks like this year's marketing theme will be golf holes rather
than golf courses. Lexus has just named its 18 favorite golf holes in the
U.S. Michigan did well with #4 at Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course and #3
at Bay Harbor making the list.

BOOK REVIEW: 1001 GOLF HOLES YOU MUST PLAY BEFORE YOU DIE- THOSE IN
CANADA
The Michigan Golfer has been part of "Par For The Course" radio show
in Sarnia, for the last couple of years.. In addition, MGN will be
traveling to Prince Edward Island in mid July to check out the golf
there.
Therefore, I thought I would research Jeff Barr's latest tome, "1001
Golf Holes You Must Play Before You Die" and present the top Canadian
golf holes. MGN has a little over 300 Canadian subscribers on our list.
Cheers to our northern neighbors.

19TH HOLE-WISE WOMEN AND WINE
Linda was driving home from one of her business trips in North Dakota
when she saw an elderly Chippewa Indian woman walking on the side of the
road. As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and
asked the woman if she would like a ride. With a word or two of thanks,
she got in the car.
After resuming the journey and a bit of small talk, the Chippewa woman
noticed a brown bag on the seat next to Linda. "What's in the bag?" she
asked.
Linda looked down at the brown bag and said, "It's a bottle of Pinot
Grigio wine from Good Harbor Winery. I got it for my husband."
The Indian woman was silent for a moment, and then speaking with the
quiet wisdom of an elder said, "Good trade."
Thanks and a Tip of the Tam to Dr. Jack Minzey for this week's gem.

BANK OF ANN ARBOR FUTURES GOLF CLASSIC STARTS NEXT WEEK

town on June 23, with the Pro-Am. The tournament starts on the 24th and
runs through the 26th. There are not a lot of opportunities to see the
ladies on tour in Michigan, so you might want to stop by to see these
rising stars. Last year's champion, was Lindsey Wright.

BOOK DVD REVIEW-"GOLF FLEX: THE COMPLETE WORKOUT"
by L'anse Bannon
As I get older, it seems to take increasingly more time for me just to
get out of the car. Bummer.
Fear no more my fellow golfers as help is on the way with the newest
Hatherleigh Press release, "Golf Flex: The Complete Workout". Paul
Frediani has made a strong point about a more fit golfer. The old adage, use
it or lose it, still stands up in the golf world..
The DVD that accompanies the book, is a little short on production
values, but does support the lesson learned in the various chapters in the
book. The book is available at Hatherleight Press and sells for
$19.95, add another sawbuck for Canadian golfers.

NATIONAL GOLF FOUNDATION REPORTS TOTAL CORE GOLFER NUMBER DIPS IN 2004
Based on the National Golf Foundationıs (NGF) recent annual sounding of
golf participation, the total number of adult golfers dropped 3.9%,
from 28.4 million in 2003 to 27.3 million in 2004. The number of core
golfers those playing at least eight annual rounds was 12.8 million in
2004, 4.7% lower than the 13.4 million recorded in 2003. Other than
1997 to 2000, the number of core golfers -- those playing eight or more
rounds per year -- has been relatively stable over the past 15 years.
NGF focuses on Core golfers because, while they represent 47% of total
golfers, they account for 91% of rounds played and 87% of golf-related
spending.
NGF also reports the number of junior golfers ages 12-17 increased from
2.5 million in 2003 to 2.9 million in 2004. The number of total golfers
ages 12 and above dropped from 30.9 to 30.2 million.
More detail regarding golf participation can be found in NGFıs second
quarter newsletter, Golf Industry Report. For more information, call NGF
at (888) 275-4643.

EMU'S BART LOWER IN THE THICK OF THINGS FOR BIG BREAK IV
The next installment of The Golf Channelıs hit reality series, The Big
Break IV: USA vs. Europe, will introduce a new team format but,
ultimately, it will be only one golfer whose dreams will come true.
As one of the most-watched original programs in the history of the
24-hour golf network, The Big Break series has entertained audiences by
showcasing a new way to watch golf on TV. The new, 14-week series begins
Sept. 13, with each weekly episode premiering Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
In true ³Ryder Cup² style, each episode of The Big Break IV will pit a
team of golfers from the United States against a team from Europe in
various skills challenges on the golf course. Although playing for
country and team, the showıs unique twist will turn the tables at the end of
each episode as teammates are faced with competing against each other
to avoid being eliminated from the show.
Filming will take place ³across the pond² in Scotland at Carnoustie
Golf Links, site of the 2007 Open Championship. Carnoustie is linked with
some of the most memorable moments in Open Championship history, from
Tommy Armourıs victory in 1931 to Jean Van de Veldeıs famous collapse in
1999. Portions of the show also will be taped at the historic Old
Course at St. Andrews Links, where the game of golf evolved and has been
safeguarded for centuries. The Old Course also is the site of this
yearıs Open Championship, the third major championship of the 2005 season.
As you may recall, EMU golfer, Bart Lower, finished second in the Big
Break II. However, Bart was a real hit on the show and got voted on
Big Break IV by viewers like you. Bart is now living in Naples, involved
in real estate with Pulte homes and is a new father, with the birth of
Ryann Elizabeth. Bart and his wife, Niki now have two children and all
seems to be going well for the Lower famiy.
