MGN ON THE ROAD

Kingston, Woodstock, West Point, Rhinerock, New York
There are 85 delicious courses waiting for you in the Hudson Valley of
New York State. Here to attend a wedding, we did not get the chance to
tee it up, but did drop by a couple of courses to check out the area.
We are also in the Catskills region of New York State that boasts 98
peaks over 3,000 feet. Therefore, it is safe to stay, there are some
outstanding mountain and valley courses in the area. The fall color
was at about 40% and it was awesome. They have more hardwoods then we
do and the difference is noticeable. The golf prices are very
reasonable, with many courses over in the double sawbuck range. The
name courses approach Michigan's wwith the Hudson National Course
coming in at $100, New York CC $115 and , Centennial GC at $125. I did
not get a chance to stop by the proshop of the West Point GC, but it
was hilly and green and somewhat reminiscent of our up north resort
courses, i.e. Crystal Mountain.

MICHIGAN GOLFER TELEVISION-DOUBLE FEATURE -FRENCH LICK AND CANADA

French Lick

Joe Louis, was a great boxer, but everybody was in his
pocket on the golf courses at French Lick. The arrival of the first
gasoline golf carts at French Lick brought about a caddies revolt with
many of the carts ending up in the Lick. Bing Crosby loved the place,
but his game abandoned him on the Ross course. These and other stories
await you with our continuing series of "The Caddies of French Lick".

Canada

We take our final 2003 look at Outstate Outaheres in Canada. Our
wonderful neighbor offers a number of great tracts at reasonable
prices. You can golf the Sarnia -Lambton area, or go north to the
Sault Ste Marie side to golf Crimson Ridge. Or you can see our friends
at the Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood or venture farther East to
Muskoka and Quebec.

NGF CUSTOMER LOYALTY AND SATISFACTION PROGRAM

The NGF's National Golf Foundation) Customer Loyalty and Satisfaction
Program, now has more than 400 courses using the program and the
number of surveys in the system exceeds 100,000. The program enables
facility operators to analyze, track and monitor customer behavior in
order to develop a one-to-one relationship with customers and increase
profitability.

The large number of courses and surveys enhances the feedback mechanism
built into the program, making it possible for golf operators to
compare their course with competing facilities more accurately. The
result of the comparable data collected gives golf operators an
estimate of wallet share, or percent of a customerís rounds played at
the course. Many operators have been surprised by both the wallet share
numbers and by the golf facilities that are truly competitive with
their operation.

Created in response to current market conditions and the growing need
of facilities to increase revenues and the number of rounds played,
the program provides detailed information about what customers value
most, enabling facility operators to gain a better understanding of
their customer base. The public version focuses on wallet share,
customer loyalty, customer profiles, satisfaction vs. importance of
facility features, competitive analysis and media habits of customers.

For more information on the public, private or resort versions of the
program, contact the NGF at 561-744-6006.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK-GOLF'S 20 LAWS

20 Golfing Laws

LAW 1: No matter how bad your last shot was, the worst is yet to come.
This law does not expire on the 18th hole, since it has the
supernatural tendency to extend over the course of a tournament, a
summer and, eventually, a lifetime.

LAW 2: Your best round of golf will be followed almost immediately by
your worst round ever. The probability of the latter increases with the
number of people you tell about the former.

LAW 3: Brand new golf balls are water-magnetic. Though this cannot be
proven in the lab, it is a known fact that the more expensive the golf
ball, the greater its attraction to water.

LAW 4: Golf balls never bounce off of trees back into play. If one
does, the tree is breaking a law of the universe and should be cut
down.

LAW 5: No matter what causes a golfer to muff a shot, all his playing
partners must solemnly chant "You looked up," or invoke the wrath of
the universe.

LAW 6: The higher a golfer's handicap, the more qualified he deems
himself as an instructor.

LAW 7: Every par-three hole in the world has a secret desire to
humiliate golfers. The shorter the hole, the greater its desire.

LAW 8: Topping a 3-iron is the most painful torture known to man.

LAW 9: Palm trees eat golf balls.

LAW 10: Sand is alive. If it isn't, how do you explain the way it works
against you?

LAW 11: Golf carts always run out of juice at the farthest point from
the clubhouse.

LAW 12: A golfer hitting into your group will always be bigger than
anyone in your group. Likewise, a group you accidentally hit into will
consist of a football player, a professional wrestler, a convicted
murderer and a tax agent -- or some similar combination.

LAW 13: All 3-woods are demon-possessed.

LAW 14: Golf balls from the same "sleeve" tend to follow one another,
particularly out of bounds or into the water (see Law three)

LAW 15: A severe slice is a thing of awesome power and beauty.

LAW 16: "Nice lag" can usually be translated to "lousy putt."
Similarly, "tough break" can usually be translated "way to miss an easy
one, sucker."

LAW 17: The person you would most hate to lose to will always be the
one who beats you.

LAW 18: The last three holes of a round will automatically adjust your
score to what it really should be.

LAW 19: Golf should be given up at least twice per month.

LAW 20: All vows taken on a golf course shall be valid only until the
sunset of the same day
