__/OTSEGO CLUB SALE - ADDITIONAL DETAILS
*** "The Otsego Club & Resort has been successfully bid upon through a private auction conducted in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, October 25, 2006.The announcement was made by Keith H. Gornick, owner of the historic resort, and Michael Biber, Managing Partner of Brighton, Michigan based Osprey s.a., Ltd, who was the high-bidder at the conclusion of the auction. The preliminary agreement covers the acquisition of the ³core² property including Otsego Clubıs main lodge and restaurants, special event center, 28 ski slopes, hotel complex and the Classic golf course. Osprey was also successful in their bid to acquire the famed ³Tribute² golf course, which was recently named a Top 10 course in Michigan. ³Essentially, the resort, hotel, golf and ski operations are included in the sale,² said Gornick, who has owned and operated the Otsego Club since he purchased it from his late father, Alan Gornick, in 1981. The two parties have signed the preliminary agreement and anticipate a closing on or before December 20, 2006. The Otsego Club and Resort was founded in1939 by the late Donald McLouth of the McLouth Steel Corporation. It was purchased by Alan Gornick in 1955 and has been owned and operated as a ³labor of love² by the Gornick family for more than 50 years." Taken and edited from an Otsego Club release

*** The front nine of the Beeches includes the tricky par-four third, a hole of only 320 yards that is bordered the entire distance of the hole on the left by the first of six large ponds on the property. Matthews has also made good use of sandy waste areas throughout the course that add teeth to the test. The back nine incorporates most of the rest of the water on the course and finishes with the 420-yard 18th, where the green is guarded to the right by another pond. ³Itıs a challenging but pleasing way to end the round,² says Matthews. ³The giant beech frames the hole on the left, and the water on the right means players will have to be on their best behavior when they approach this green!² Matthews says the Beeches will also boast a third nine holes in the years ahead. With five sets of tees, the Beeches Golf Club ranges in length from forward tees of 5,005 yards to 7,115 from the back tees. ³Because of our close proximity to Lake Michigan, we didnıt feel the need to load the design with a lot of obstacles,² says Fargo. ³The changing winds provide the variety in playability for us.² Best of all, says Fargo, is that Matthewsı thoughtful design will allow the club to operate with an affordable rate structure for its visitors. ³It was important for us to build a course people around here can always afford to play,² he says. ³The initial response weıve had from patrons is that weıve done very well in that regard.²

*** Golfers who want to improve their swing during winter months, or tune up before winter golf trips to warm weather destinations, will be able to take advantage of Hebert's extensive playing knowledge. Highlights of the lessons will be video analysis of each student's golf swing as well as analysis with a launch vector monitor. In addition, the school's indoor practice facilities will be available for use by golfers who are taking lessons, or simply want to hit a few golf balls to maintain their swing until golf season begins again next spring. Commenting on his approach to teaching, Hebert said, "It doesn't have to look good to work. While all successful golfers swing the club differently, they all share common characteristics that I call fundamentals. Breaking anyone of these fundamentals will result in the inability to consistently hit the ball straight. Our lessons will focus on those fundamentals." The Winter Golf School will be open December 1, 2006 through March 31, 2007. Hours of operation will be Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The School will be located in the same building that houses the Jim McLean Golf School from May to October, at the north end of the Resort's practice range, and features three heated indoor practice tees. Lesson rates and practice facility prices for the Winter Golf School are below. or additional information and to make a lesson appointment, contact Head Golf Professional Scott Hebert, PGA, directly at 231-534-6476, or e-mail shebert@gtresort.com . http://grandtraverseresort.com
*** The following truths have been proven through experience! 1. Don't buy a putter until you've had a chance tothrow it. 2. Never try to keep more than 300 separate thoughtsin your mind during your swing. 3. When your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one more club or two more balls. 4. If you're afraid a full shot might reach the greenwhile the foursome ahead of you is still putting out, you have two options: you can immediately shank alay-up or you can wait until the green is clear and top a ball halfway there. 5. The less skilled the player, the more likely he is to share his ideas about the golf swing. 6. No matter how bad you are playing, it is alwayspossible to play worse. 7. The inevitable result of any golf lesson is the instant elimination of the one critical unconscious motion that allowed you to compensate for all of yourmany other errors. 8. If it ain't broke, try changing your grip. 9. Everyone replaces his divot after a perfect approach shot. 10. A golf match is a test of your skill against your opponents' luck. Thanks and a Tip of the Tam to Jack Minzey for passing these on.
