The next time your ball finds a water hazard, you can blame Robert Trent Jones. Jones, the legendary golf architect, explains that sand traps and bunkers had become less of a threat to professional golfers. He took it upon himself to bring more water hazards into his golf course designs. He called them, "the ultimate penalty."
